In January 2015, the Hop Growers of America released their 2014 Statistical Report. The report uses data from growers and the USDA.

Oregon’s production of hops has increased steadily over the years; with a nearly 12% increase from 2013. As craft brewers anticipate a 20% annual growth through 2020 – demand of Oregon’s specialty hops such as Cascade (+127%) and Centennial (+78%) varieties will only continue to grow.

hops_highresHop growers and craft brewers are intimately tied to the economy in Oregon. Last year, Oregon had 220 breweries operated by 179 different companies in 71 cities across Oregon (Oregon Craft Beer.) The economic impact of the beer industry was $2.83 billion in 2014; creating 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.

East Valley Water District is proud to count hop growers as members. East Valley Water District members account for a quarter of Oregon’s total production of hops.
